Hello my friends!
The summer is in full swing. I’m one of those strange people that really like the heat. I like the warmth it brings. It’s like walking into a dry sauna all day long! But I always welcome the air conditioning just as much!
On the subject of sunshine, I want to highlight our need to remember God‘s Words in Ecclesiastes 11:7, “Sunshine is sweet; it’s good to see the light of day”. As we move towards a more intimate relationship with Jesus, by confessing the junk in our hearts and asking him to remove it, we have more and more “good” days. The more we apply the biblical principles we are learning, which bring purification to our hearts, we start to experience fewer days filled with anxiety, fear and feelings of low self -worth. The dark clouds that have once loomed over us start clearing away. We are able to see more sunshine and enjoy more of the beauty of life.
“The Lord has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be GLAD!” Psalm 118:24. We can truly be GLAD for our gifts and blessings as we grow and heal in Jesus’ forgiveness, grace and unconditional LOVE! But occasionally we will be thrust back into a dark day or a few dark days. God reminds us of this, “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” Psalm 50:15
When we are having a difficult, fear filled, day,( I have them too) we must ask God to show us what we need to learn from it and to please take FEAR from us. Paul says in Philippians 4, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” That is our goal as believers! God wants us to live in peace, freedom and victory each day! But as frail human beings we, most likely, wont feel victorious all the time, especially in our early healing process. What we must remember is that having a bad day or a few bad days doesn’t mean we have gone back to who were before. JOY WILL RETURN!! A bad day is just that A BAD DAY! As we heal more and more, our GOOD DAYS will start connecting together more and more. If we are taking action and being obedient to what God is asking us to do, our sunshine will come right back!
As I was working through healing from deep pain in my life, I slowly started feeling better. I started enjoying my blessings again and, in some ways, more than I ever had before! But, in those early days of healing, when I would have a bad day, I would immediately think, “OH NO.. I’m back to square one” NOT TRUE!! Growth and healing takes time. It’s a process. We must be patient with ourselves and with God! HE IS WORKING in HIS timing NOT ours!
If we are starting to feel a rain cloud hoovering, REMEMBER! The peace we have been experiencing will return to us and be EVEN BETTER! Keep trusting God! One day at a time!! FAITH AND ACTION!
